A reprint of the essay, Words originally written in 1893 by Agnes Repplier. The now public domain essay was typeset with a fascination in various historic book typesetting examples that present text in dense, fully justified blocks. Accompanying the essay is a set of six folded photograph inserts, varying from copy to copy. The sequence of type and image likens the photographer’s choices in what to capture to the writer’s choices in selecting words.
